« Who are the Nkpàg? » Where do they come from ? Nowadays, very few Nkpàg (Bafia) can answer these questions because of the lack of historical narratives written by the Nkpàg and due to the gradual disappearance of the depositories of their history. The archives of the Prefecture of Bafia have historical documents written by the settlers through the prism of colonization and not by those who make the soul of the Npkàg. The Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe will use this African proverb to illustrate the story of a people excluded from the writing of its history: "As long as lions do not have their own historians, hunting stories will continue to glorify the hunter."

History is the indispensable foundation of any society: A people who knows its past understands its language, traditions, values, spiritual practices, etc. It creates a sense of belonging to a community of destiny.

The module «The great historical facts of the Nkpàg people» of this platform aims to gather the significant events, life stories and moments that have shaped the identity of the Nkpàg, as they are perceived, preserved and transmitted within our families and communities. It testifies to the will of the Nkpàg not to let time erase their traces. Because remembering together means ensuring that the culture and values of the Nkpàg people will continue to beat in the hearts of future generations.

This module can only be attractive and of great interest if all the Npkàg children who hold oral or written stories, photos or objects of a historical nature participate in its enrichment.

The editors of the platform hope that the stories and debates that will result from them will be for each Nkpàg a source of inspiration and reflect a renewed pride : that of finally knowing where we come from to better decide where we are going.
